Commune de Pomerol 33328, Gironde, France
On the 6 et 7 of May, 2022
After two successive postponements due to covid, then a 10th edition that was finally held in October, the 11th Printemps Photographique de Pomerol returns in May. Friday, May 6th at 6pm at the Mairie de Pomerol, Christophe Goussard will comment his exhibition “Les autres, balade araméenne” which follows , between 2003 and 2007, the daily life of the inhabitants of this small village in the north of Damascus. They are considered as the last speakers of the Aramaic language. And on Saturday, May 7 at 8pm, Guillaume Herbaut will be in the Salle Polyvalente of Pomerol for a commented projection of his work.

Les autres, balade araméenne
Exhibition at the Mairie de Pomerol on May 6 and 7
Guided tour by the photographer on Friday, May 6 at 6 pm
Between 2003 and 2007, while the clashes were raging in Syria, Christophe Goussard documented the small village of Maaloula, an exception to the rule north of Damascus. The inhabitants maintain a peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims, making sure that the ancient link and the Aramaic history that unites them is not broken.
Screening with commentary at the Salle Polyvalente in Pomerol
Saturday, May 7th at 8pmLe printemps photographique de Pomerol invites Guillaume Herbaut to speak, during a commented screening, about “the convergence of the imaginary and the political” at work in his photographic work. Interrogating the symbols and memories of places steeped in history in order to reveal their invisible dramas, “he engages photography in a process that goes against the grain of current events and superimposes, on direct testimony, the elaboration of scenes worthy of legendary narratives.” (Michel Poivert, historian of photography)
