The republic is over 200 years old. An overused word, applied to everything, a sometimes imperfect system, a fragile ideal, the republic nevertheless remains resolutely modern.
In the form of a deconstructed alphabet book, with Raphaëlle Bacqué, a journalist at Le Monde, Gérard Rondeau offers a new take on it, a republic on the run.
He invites us to follow him on an unusual, picturesque, and often caustic journey.
Along the paths of the republic, unusual images and unexpected stories emerge for a universal idea.
The images presented are taken from the book published by Seuil in 2011, produced with the collaboration of Valérie Gautier, artistic director.
