Yang Yankang

biography

Yang Yankang was born in 1954, in the city of Ashun, Guizhou Province in China.
He has been represented by the VU agency since 2001.

He started his career by joining the distribution of Inphoto magazine in Shenzen in 1984. However, it was not until 1985 that he began his adventure in photography.

Since then, he has been one of the most famous Chinese photographers working on the theme of religion, without worrying about its transcendental aspects. In a classical photographic language and visual rhythm, he shows simple truths that he has observed.

He is regularly exhibited in Asia and Europe. In 2001, he won first prize at the Shandong Yiping International Festival. He is well-known for his series about rural Chinese Catholic and Buddhism in Tibet he photographed in 2001 and 2009.
