The result of a long immersion in the heart of a Brussels prison, La Peine (Emperors of Nothing) is an intimate and unprecedented dive into the depths of the prison condition. Through the daily lives of the men and women who live there – inmates, guards and warden – the film reveals the cracks and hopes of a humanity trying to resist its own negation.
