Trees — Vincent Catala, Denis Dailleux, Hien Lam Duc, Ouka Leele, Juan Manuel Castro-Prietro, Andrew Quilty, Guillaume Herbaut and Massimo Siragusa.

Festival La Gacilly Photo and Reporters Sans Frontières
Garage – 56 204 La Gacilly
From June 1 to September 30, 2022

In partnership with Reporters Sans Frontières, the La Gacilly Photo Festival is exhibiting photographs from the next RSF album, which will feature 8 of the agency’s photographers: Vincent Catala, Denis Dailleux, Hien Lam Duc, Ouka Leele, Juan Manuel Castro-Prieto, Andrew Quilty, Guillaume Herbaut and Massimo Siragusa.
The RSF album will be released on June 2, 2022.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their magazine, which honors illustrators as well as the greatest names in still photography, the Festival Photo La Gacilly, in a permanent concern for commitment, has joined forces with RSF to publish a special issue devoted to trees.

100 photos from 100 great names in photography, including 8 from Agence VU’, are organized around the common theme of “trees”: whether it is the main subject of the image, a simple element of decor, a point of detail or even a shadow cast on a wall.

The opportunity to reflect on the place that the tree occupies in our lives and in the perception of the world that photographers have. To show how, unconsciously or not, their look relies on them to build their image. The first tree appeared on earth 385 million years ago and, since the dawn of our species, has always been an essential landmark in the history of humanity. These images show how it has taken root in our lives and in our common imagination.
