As part of the second edition of the festival ‘Images of War. War of Images’
The exhibition ‘10 Years in the Trenches – Ukraine 2014-2024’ presents the work of Guillaume Herbaut, who has been working on the Ukrainian front since the events of Maidan Square in 2014. Alongside him are the works of Youry Bilak, documenting the appearance of the first trenches in 2014, Edouard Elias, who in 2017-2018 chose to work in film, in technical conditions similar to those of 1914-1918, and Chloé Sharrock. The exhibition also invites visitors to reflect on the specific characteristics of Ukrainian trenches, which, contrary to what one might think, are very different from the complex system of the First World War as described by historian François Cochet. They are part of a different strategic logic, marked by mobility, adaptation and the massive use of modern technologies, particularly drones.
