Gérard RONDEAU had been planning this exhibition, a tribute to the people and landscapes of the Champagne region but also a tribute to wine, for a long time. Champagne was his life. This deep-rootedness has enabled him to represent the rest of the world, and to photograph the land of his birth as a place of the universal. This photographic journey takes in the homes of winegrowers, cellars and country lanes, hospitable wineries and customary landscapes, blending history – through architecture – with the narrative of everyday life – the rhythm of long days or the seasons so important to the work of wine and vines. He also takes us on a journey into the world of gastronomy.
