On the occasion of Viva Cinéma, LUX invites Frédéric Lecloux and Anne-Lore Mesnage to reveal the Territories of the Cinematograph. This exhibition is the result of a residency initiated by Les Écrans and the Maison de l’Image d’Aubenas, which led the photographers to survey the cinemas of the Drôme and Ardèche, from festival to travelling showings, from classroom to dark room, from screenings under the stars to village halls… With this title, which echoes Robert Bresson’s Notes on the Cinematograph, the two artists showcase the magical and ritualistic places of the cinematographic experience, as well as the places where films are made.
Together, they have created a unique body of photographs, constituting both a tool for understanding the current dynamics of the practices and uses of cinema on both sides of the Rhône, and more widely in rural areas, as well as a historical beacon for future generations.
