“Singapore, a city-state in South-East Asia and the largest container port in the region, has become a “research powerhouse” in the most advanced fields in recent years. But the originality of this city-state is the HDB system. (Housing Development Board) system, which facilitates access to home ownership.”
– Françoise Huguier
“90% of Singaporeans are middle class, and salaries are equivalent to ours. They have an adapted and efficient social security system. A draconian control of immigration, highly developed public transport, the Singaporean state does everything for this middle class to develop, provided that it follows the rules, that it works and consumes but also that it has children.
The bank holidays, 9 August, has recently been renamed the ‘Love Day’. The state of Singapore and Mentos sweets have made a video clip called “Mentos want Singapore to make babies” to encourage Singaporeans to have children.”
