Ferhat Bouda — L’homme libre est celui qui veut et qui marche
Exhibition from 12 November to 7 December
Maison de l’Art à Grand Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire
The exhibition opens with a symbolic space that invites visitors to leave the outside world behind and enter the Amazigh universe — a world of freedom, memory and movement. The Tuareg quotation acts as an invocation, marking the beginning of an initiatory journey that is not geographical but human, through the dignity and resistance of a people. The first room, the true heart of the exhibition, celebrates the Amazigh people’s intimate connection with the land, family and the natural elements. The photographs form a visual symphony blending freedom, memory and the breath of life. Another room evokes the memory of Amazigh struggles — revolts, repressions, wars of independence — and expresses the tension between fervour and mourning, dignity and violence. Finally, the exhibition concludes with a suspended, poetic and sensory space, where image, word and silence unite around the tale The Veil and the Wind, a metaphor for freedom and listening.
