Denis Darzacq - La Chute

“La Chute” is an outstanding link between photojournalism and Denis Darzacq’s artistic research.

Inspired by a report on hip-hop dancers, the series features young people captured in the instant of a jump, without recourse to digital collage.

The bodies impose their dynamism, lightness and plasticity on the monumental geometry of the urban space they parasitize.

The artist borrows his forms of expression from street culture. He turns it into a form of emancipation.

For the time it takes to perform a free, unconventional act, young people tear themselves away from the constraints of society.

“La Chute” won the 1st prize in the Arts and Entertainment category of the World Press Photo 2007.
