Denis Darzacq — Hyper
Agnès b. presents the 6th season of its collection dedicated to body language.
Place Jean-Michel Basquiat, Paris
Exhibition from June 9 to October 22, 2023
For several years, the photographer Denis Darzacq has been interested in the place of the individual in our society.
He feeds this questioning with staged images, but also with strictly documentary photographs, all of which are the fruit of shared experience. There is no digital manipulation.
In Hyper, this questioning is based on a formal opposition. Between body and set, or between being and having.
The photographer asked young dancers and sportsmen to make jumps fueled by the violence of the place, the hypermarkets, and by a gesture inspired by Mannerist painting, unreal and over-played, useless.
These are movements of resistance to an increasingly invasive commercial world.
But they are also simply a plastic proposition, free of any social or political interpretation.
