Denis Dailleux — Parfum d’Orient
Institut du monde arabe
1 Rue des Fossés Saint-Bernard, 75005 Paris
Exhibited from September 26, 2023 until March 17, 2024
As part of the Parfums d’Orient exhibition at the Institut du monde arabe, Denis Dailleux is exhibiting a selection of photographs from the series Une odyssée des arômes et des parfums. This series was produced in 2015, to mark the 250th anniversary of the renowned Givaudan house, an institution in the perfume market. The photographer set out to follow the track of the most precious essences that can be extracted from nature. Denis Dailleux has combed Madagascar, Morocco and southern India, from the irises dotting the plateaus of the Middle Atlas to the vanilla pods emerging from the lush vegetation of northern Madagascar, to reveal the secret universe of the plants and flowers behind the world’s most famous fragrances. He also pays tribute to the men and women who harvest them, and to their exceptional expertise in preserving the fragile aromas contained in each flower.
