“For a few years now, I’ve been traveling regularly to Ghana, a country that I discovered through Paul Strand’s Book “Ghana : an African portrait” and of which I ended up dreaming the images. During my first travels, Jamestown’s area quickly appeared to me as my preferred location for my work. Located near the sea, this historic district shelters the fishing port of Accra, the Ghanaian capital.
This narrow strip of sand, cornered between the sea and the city, also seems stuck between tradition and modernity. The simplicity that permeates this place, the bodies that evolve there and the lights of the sea, fascinated me and I found there the images that I was looking for. Every time I go back to Accra, Jamestown always offers me dazzling scenes.” – Denis Dailleux
