Distress
Stéphane DUROY
Berlin , Décembre 2010
This description of the human condition, of its endless frustrations, between boredom and resignation, brings to life the profound injustices which, throughout the twentieth century, have plunged the peoples of Europe into an endless tragedy.
Yesterday, the denial of their humanist values by the nations of Europe, blinded by fear, plunged many of them into totalitarian abjection.
Today, human distress, whatever its face, is on the increase: loneliness, exclusion, unemployment, racism, anti-Semitism…- a real threat to the community when a tiny number of individuals gain access to knowledge, leaving the majority in ignorance and contempt.
Distress is the culmination of more than thirty years of diving into a deeply wounded country.
