Within, 2021
In the spring of 2021, during a residency commissioned by Jean-Pierre Blanc, director of the Villa Noailles and founder of the Nu2 association, Louise Desnos went to the Levant Island. The series Within was then presented in the summer of 2021 during the Nu2 festival in Heliopolis.
The Levant island, off the coast of Hyères, is a naturist paradise. This series is a sensitive and poetic portrait. The natural environment offered by the island is very present in these images. The residents and seasonal workers are represented in symbiosis with the elements: they are not only posed in a natural setting but seem to be one with the island. Louise Desnos’ photographic view of this Mediterranean jewel and its residents is imbued with a gentle touch. A feeling of intimacy and closeness emerges from these images which are as much an ode to nature as to the bodies.
