With the Refugees in France: from Calais to Pau, 2017
The operation to shelter refugees from « Calais Jungle » is coming to an end.
More than 4,000 of them have been sent to various shelter sites across France. We boarded one of the buses with Libération journalist Stéphanie Maurice for a long trip to Gelos, in the suburbs of Pau.
For nearly a year and a half we followed the new life of these refugees between disillusionment and friendship. We witnessed their daily lives, between integration in this small village and the administrative maze to try to get papers.
