A look back at a five-year term of social movements.
During Emmanuel Macron’s five-year term, Cyril Zannettacci followed the various social movements for the newspaper Libération. Cyril photographed the beginnings of the “Yellow Vests” movement, but also the demonstrations of railway workers, teachers, students, healthcare workers, lawyers, the actions of the ecologist movement Extinction Rebellion, the occupation of the Pantheon by undocumented migrants, the struggles against feminicide, sexism, racial discrimination, support for Ukraine…
In short, all the French social news took to the streets. These revolts are very heterogeneous in their demands and their actors, but they have in common the expression of a diffuse rage that can be found in working-class neighbourhoods as well as in big cities. A quasi-permanent sequence of protest, even insurrection.
