The over-exposed city, 2006
Through the series “The over-exposed city” Guillaume Zuili questions the complexity of cities through their history and architecture. By taking an interest in the technique of the double exposure, he mixes nature and urban landscape and documents the city of Paris by detaching himself from realism to get closer to a dreamlike atmosphere. Exiled in Los Angeles, he knows that Paris is his “pillar”. He Comes back to hang out there and Lingers especially on the right bank, on the banks of the Seine, under leafless trees, makes film shots that construct and reproduce his own imagination, exhausting the whole range of sensations, feelings, vibrations by playing on the oppositions in matter, the old and the modern.
