Médoc’s seasons, 2010
During an entire year, photographer Jean-Luc Chapin paced up and down Sociando-Mallet property, in the North of Médoc, in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne.
Jean Gauterau bought those lands, half-abandoned, in 1969. In close to forty years, he made a magnificent property of it, which has one of the most beautiful view on the Gironde estuary. He made also a great wine, neither bourgeois, nor classified, quite simply Sociando-Mallet.
Along the seasons, months after months, Jean-Luc Chapin attended the evolution of the vineyard and landscape’s superb colours, at the sky and estuary’s metamorphosis, at the successive works on vineyard and wine house.
In his pictures there is the particular atmosphere of this land both wild and civilized at the same time, where are mixed swamps, palus, and the perfect sight of the vineyard.
