Lo Spazio Condiviso : The Shared Space, 2013
“I was curious, and even a little excited, when I started this work on the clubs because, until that day, I had never been in any of them. I have discovered places where, behind an apparent immobility, something always happens. Spaces where everyone’s stories, memory and shared values intertwine, to become the soul and cement of the place.” (Massimo Siragusa)
From the Acitrezza Fishermen’s Club to the Parma Reading Club, from the Genoa Yacht Club to the Syracuse Railway Club, this series takes us into spaces that are sometimes inclusive and sometimes exclusive. Its subtitle, “Italy as told by clubs”, recalls the photographer’s journey across the entire peninsula to draw a portrait of the country in the intimacy of these places of exchange, meeting and sociability, some of which are still reserved only for men.
