Il Cretto Grande, 2018
The sense of suspended times and perfection that radiates from his earlier works places Siragusa’s research on Burri’s Cretto in a kind of continuity. But new elements are blatantly emerging.
As if the impact with Burri’s work aroused such strong emotion that it made it possible to determine a different approach to the reality to be photographed.
A close confrontation with the material in which the spatial references, depth and extent of the Cretto are lost. Siragusa examines the signs left by time, water and sun on the concrete, he seems to want to penetrate the material, restores roughness, cracks, gray and white variations, accidental aspects of plants.
