Fault Lines, 2017
Since the partition of the Indian subcontinent in 1947, which was rushed through by Viceroy Lord Mountbatten while a British lawyer, Sir Cyril Radcliffe, hastily drew an artificial border, Kashmir has become one of the most militarised regions in the world and the site of multiple wars between India and Pakistan, two nuclear powers, for control of the area. It is the highest and most forgotten conflict in the world and a place of great cultural beauty and diversity that many call “heaven on earth”.
