Evacuation of the Notre-Dame-des-Landes ZAD, 2018
In the 1970s, Notre Dame des Landes, a territory located north of Nantes, was designated to host a new airport.
A resistance is organized to protect the area, a ZAD (Zone A Défendre, Area to be Defended) is born.
Since then, the 1600 hectares intended for the construction of the airport are occupied and become a place of life, of social experimentation far from our capitalist society.
On April 9, 2018, the airport project is abandoned and the government wants to dislodge the occupants of the ZAD and destroy the housing.
Today, a majority of the occupants have left their homes. But some have remained and persist in trying to live differently.
