Eden, 2024
In Figeac, in the Lot region of France, we discover a neo-rural world, where kind-hearted people practice energy self-sufficiency and extensive farming, with sheep, horses, chickens and pigs. Far from being a documentary or a report, this is a poetic zoo vision, a world where people and animals come together in an often lush and timeless natural setting. It’s as if we were in a golden age, an Eden where harmony and calm reign in a timeless universe. Bodies, smells and the language of each individual seem to find their place, and to quote Baptiste Morizot and his book “sur la piste animale” (on the animal trail). “Giving and receiving signs, exchanging them, is the foundation and nature of the great vital politics that weave the living into the ecological community”.
The muted green and black colors of the rocks, the gray of the thousand-year-old dolmens and the oaks of the causses, the ram’s horns and the drystone walls are all here. In this pastoral setting, man dialogues with animals, surrounded by nature, a silent exchange charged with sensations.
