Brumadinho Dam, 2019
4 years after the rupture of a mining dam of Vale do Rio Doce, the largest private company in Latin America, a new environmental disaster caused by the same company kills more than 250 people.
In November 2015, Brazil was appalled by the news of the rupture of a mining dam in Mariana, Minas Gerais. This sad episode in our history has killed dozens of people and devastated the environment.
Only 100km away, an even deadlier dam collapsed in 2019. Being considered the biggest environmental crime in recent Brazilian history, the rupture of the Brumadinho dam relentlessly hit the village of Córrego do Feijão. The death toll to date is 259 people, 11 are still missing.
