Argentina, Teenage Mothers, 1988-1989
“The teenage mother series, produced between 1988 and 1990, brings a sense of helplessness and discomfort – the result of a lack of social protection for low-income teenage girls when they become mothers. However, Lestido’s story saves the particularly naive and tenderly childish aura of these “mother-daughters” who play and caress their children as if they were dolls, recreating a playful atmosphere and approaching their situation from a different perspective.
