After the Earthquake in Balakot, Pakistan, 2005
On October 8, 2005, an earthquake struck the northern regions of Pakistan. Kashmir and North West Frontier Provinces were the most affected. More than 73,000 people died, 100,000 were injured and nearly 3 million lost their homes. The town of Balakot is located in the Kaghan Valley in the North West Frontier Province, one of the places that was left in ruins. Tens of thousands of people died in and around Balakot. More than 2 months after the earthquake, people are still digging, hoping to find their relatives and friends.
