A House Is Not a Home, 2018
A House is Not a Home is a series of self-portraits which question notions of femininity as well as the antiquated concept of “female hysteria”, a diagnosis historically given to women who struggled to align themselves with social conventions.
The images are set in suburban Ohio where Brooke DiDonato grew up.
A House is Not a Home presents notions of femininity and picks apart the outworn diagnosis of hysteria or womb madness.
