Exhibition Juan Manuel Castro Prieto – Sucedió entre dos párpados
→ All week long
Espace MLB, ARLES
This exhibition takes place on the occasion of the release of the eponymous book by Editions Anomalas. It presents a selection of collector’s prints, some of them gold-leaf lined, by the Spanish master of photography. Sucedió entre dos párpados, “It happened between two eyelids ” presents a series of dreamlike photographs with no unity of time or space. By closing his eyes, Juan Manuel Castro Prieto presents an allegorical photograph, full of mystery and memories, where the sacred and the profane mingle.

Following Stéphane Duroy’s retrospective exhibition at Galerie VU’ and the publication of his eponymous Photo Poche by Actes Sud, the photographer’s work will be exhibited at the Rencontres d’Arles this summer. His work is guided by an obsessive quest for identity and history in the battered Europe of the twentieth century, which has taken him as far as the United States to follow in the footsteps of European exiles.
