Chantiers ouverts au public : conversations photographiques
Exhibition from June 25 to October 2 2022
Cloître de la Psalette, Tours (Indre-et-Loire, France)
Presented for the first time at the cloister of the Psalette in Tours, and destined to be exhibited in several national monuments, Chantiers ouverts au public : conversations photographiques (Work sites open to the public : photographic conversations) offers the opportunity to discover the richness of the photographic collections of the Centre des monuments nationaux with a selection of 26 photographs from “cartes blanches” given to Pierre-Olivier Deschamps, as well as to three other photographers.
These “cartes blanches” were made at a unique moment in the history of national monuments – that of the restoration of these jewels of French heritage with a view to opening them to the public and passing them on to future generations. They reveal in a sensitive way the behind-the-scenes aspects of major restoration projects such as that of the Château de Villers-Cotterêts, the future Cité internationale de la langue française, which Pierre-Olivier Deschamps has been following with his author gaze since June 2020.
