A major retrospective devoted to the Franco-American photographer Jane Evelyn Atwood, the exhibition presents thirty-five years of work, from the prostitutes of Rue des Lombards to the streets of Port au Prince. Organized around seven major series (Extérieur Nuit, Trop de peines : Femmes en prison, Jean-Louis : vivre et mourir du sida, Rue des Lombards, Haïti, Divers et Pigalle) and some twenty previously unpublished photographs on various subjects, the 200 or so prints in the exhibition retrace the journey of a photographer without concession, sensitive to the destinies of those whose condition and life’s tragedies have cast them to the periphery, far from the gaze of society.
