Addiction, hazing, excessive alcoholism, sporting events, first sexual intercourses, violence, rock shows… Is this a new form of these rites of passage that traditionally mark the end of puberty?

Is there any rite that marks the passage through adolescence towards adulthood nowadays? As claimed by hazers, does it has the status and can it fulfill the role of initiation rites? In modern societies, initiation rites don’t exist anymore due to the lack of shared mythical and symbolic references. Those photographs demonstrate a youth searching for identity away from stereotypes.

Steeve Iuncker presents a photographic work realized with a camera that offers a large photosensitive area, catching on the negative all the energy of a hopeless and fallow youth.
