Nolwenn Brod is presenting her new Riverrun project, based in Dublin in 2023.
The first part of this project is inspired by James Joyce’s Finnegan’s Wake. Riverrun, borrowed from the incipit of the Irish author’s novel, is a word invented at the heart of the language, emblematic of Joyce’s literary experimentation. It heralds a photographic project that will explore desire, the indistinction of gender, filiation, mourning and sensitivity to the flesh.
This first part of the project was carried out as part of a Capsule residency set up by the French Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Centre Photographique de Rouen Normandie and its Frutescens programme dedicated to French photographic creation, as well as Futures, the European photography platform, and PhotoIreland, also a member of the platform.
