The starting point of La ritournelle is a man, a woman and their romantic, social and professional territory, turned upside down by their relocation from a big city to the countryside, and the birth of a child.

Nolwenn Brod has been regularly visiting them for more than two years now. She observes and make tangible tensions, feelings variations, landscapes and seasons.

The human, the animal, the vegetation and the mineral combine and meet. A breast from which drips pearls of milk stands alongside a swarm of flies on the flank of an animal, a hairy torso, a rock leafing through a path, a blowing sweet chestnut… In her understanding of the future of human beings and of things, Nolwenn Brod explores and catches transitional territories, evoking resistance moves, rhythms and urges. Her photographs, while calling in tactile sensations, spread ambivalent feelings. These images are oxymorons : from animality to spirituality, from softness to wounds, and from restraint to indecency.

This is how the ritournelle sounds, like a circular and heady song.
