From the 23th of October to the 23th of December 2019
As part of « Cosmopolis #2 : rethinking the human » Munem Wasif presents Seeds Shall Set Us Free II. Carried out in collaboration with the Bangladeshi research organization UBINIG, this project questions the contemporary agricultural practices.
While the British colonial system has largely imposed indigo and jute crops on Bangladesh to satisfy the demands of the world market, the Nava Krishi Andolan movement promote a local, non-chemical, rice crop for the benefit of biodiversity, the value of indigenous agricultural skills and the well-being of workers… Claims and initiatives that Munem Wasif testifies to by engaging in dialogue between cyanotypes of rice at different stages of growth, archival documents and photographs from one of the largest seed banks in Bangladesh (involving more than 100,000 farming families).
