For more than six years, Marin Driguez walked the corridors and rooms of Brussels hospitals, a discreet witness to a world where suffering, expectation and dedication are intertwined. Through his lens, he captures the repeated gestures of the carers, the tiredness of endless shifts, the silences that are heavy with meaning, and the looks where worry and hope meet. This immersion gave rise to a reflection: what place do we give to care? What remains of public service in the face of exhaustion? Who are the men and women who look after, reassure and repair? And how, in the face of illness and death, do we constantly redefine the meaning of life?
This long-term project, combining photographs and personal accounts, is now taking the form of an exhibition in Brussels and a book published by Gallimard.
The project is supported by the King Baudouin Foundation, the City of Brussels, the CHU Brugmann, the CPAS of the City of Brussels, Kimia Studios and the National Lottery.
