For the annual South by Southwest (SWSW) festival in Austin, USA, Louie Palu created an installation entitled “Arctic Passage”. Large-format photographs frozen in blocks of ice were placed on the forecourt of the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas on 12 March 2019.
For three years, Louie Palu travelled to the Arctic on assignment for National Geographic. The photographer has placed images from these trips in ice blocks. The project explores the changing situation related to the geopolitics of the Arctic and its history. The installation “Arctic Passage” is about climate change and self-destructing art.
