À balles réelles is an exhibition of documentary photography resulting from five years of creative research in the town of Tonnerre. Visitors will discover photographs, texts and maps describing the contemporary transformations of a rural area. The scenography is organized around three scientific questions: How do you explain the fact that people in precarious situations have moved to a town they didn’t even know existed? How, in the face of major economic and social difficulties, do some inhabitants manage to hold on while others die or disappear? And under what conditions can documentary photography reliably describe the world under observation?
