Frédéric Lecloux — Territoires du cinématographe
Exhibition in the village of Thueyts, 07330
From April 16 to May 15, 2021
In theaters or under the stars, urban or rural, in the rare time of a festival or the long time of daily life, sometimes for a hundred spectators and sometimes for thousands… the “cinematograph”, as Robert Bresson persisted in calling it, adapts itself to the multiple territory of the Ardèche.
It settles in a fold of the plateau, settles in the valleys, arrives for an evening on board a truck, takes the students beyond the horizon of the school, deposits in layers the traces of its history in the projection booths, the projectionist who transforms his room into a work of art, disappears here to be reborn there… And we, spectators, by doing so, it feeds us, irrigates us, fertilizes us, implicates us, escapes us sometimes, moves us often, and always
questions us on our relationship with the world near and far.
Since autumn 2019, at the invitation of the Maison de l’image d’Aubenas and the association Les Écrans de Valence, as part of the residency “Itinérances” offered by the department of Ardèche, Frédéric Lecloux photographs the cinema there.
This open-air exhibition presents his work for the first time, with a special focus on Thueyts, which he photographed in the summer of 2020.
