From December 13, 2024 to March 30, 2025, the Kiosque, in partnership with the VU’ agency, will host an exhibition by Françoise Huguier, spanning a prolific photographic career that began in 1976.
Alongside the worlds of politics, culture and, above all, fashion, which she began documenting in 1976, Françoise Huguier began criss-crossing the world as a territory of encounters in the late 1980s. From the ghostly Africa begun in 1988, a photographic journey in the footsteps of Michel Leiris, to the intimate exploration of the middle classes in Singapore in 2010, Françoise Huguier’s photography documents and reveals the diversity of the world, its territories and societies. In 1993, she surveyed Russian territory with En route pour Behring, a diary of her solo journey to Siberia. Continuing her research into intimacy, social life and the traces of history, between 2000 and 2007 she spent two months a year in the communal apartments of St. Petersburg, which became Kommounalka, revealing the survivals of the Soviet world as well as the meanderings inherent in living together. In the 2000s, Southeast Asia became one of his favorite destinations. An artist-in-residence in Singapore in 2009, she embarked on a journey to the heart of Southeast Asia’s middle classes.
