This exhibition dedicated to Francoise Huguier will include two series.
Fresh member of VU’, Françoise Huguier goes to Kwazulu-Natal, then to Burkina Faso and to Mali to photograph women’s intimacy. A book is born from this work; Secrètes, published by Actes Sud. Françoise Huguier took the time to meet those women. She spoke to them, entered their houses, and their bedrooms, and, above all, she listened to them. In this way, she earned the right to photograph their life, and brought back a series of plain portraits captured in shared respect.
From 2000 to 2007, she spends every autumn in a community housing in Saint-Petersburg.
With strength and humanity, she gathers materiel about the intertwined destinies of its tenants in an exhibition, Kommunalka. It was first shown at the Rencontres de la Photographie in Arles in 2008
