For more than twenty years, Israel Ariño has been exploring the enigmatic and has built a work that perpetually takes us to the other side of the mirror. Intimately linked to literature, in what is eminently literary and fictional, it stands on the edge of reality and fiction, of dream and reality. This exhibition brings together two of his major series: La pesanteur du lieu, a dreamlike wandering capturing the emergence of things that manifest themselves in the night, and Au gré du courant, for which he followed the poetic drift along the Evre des Eaux Étroites by Julien Gracq. In his images, from dusk to dawn, the ordinary takes the place of the extraordinary. For Israel Ariño, photography, like his mastery of the art of silver printing, is a constant means of questioning, transcending and reinventing reality.
