L’été photographique
1 Rue Dupouy – 32700, Lectoure (FRANCE)
From July 10 to September 19, 2021
The festival L’été photographique presents Entre fleuve et rivière (2019), a photographic project by Christophe Goussard and Charles-Frédérick Ouellet, carried out during residencies in the Basque Country and in the provinces of Quebec and Labrador.
« A dialogue between two photographers, two photographic writings, an immersion in the landscapes, a way to find oneself, to be in the world in a solitary walk, a quest. A coming and going between two territories, a quest for immaterial traces, fictitious or real evidence, original forces. The two photographers have each discovered the territory of the other.
It is a desire to explore a history common to these two regions, that of the whalers who came to draw resources from the Gulf of Saint-Laurent. It is a question of whale hunting, of the fur trade, but also of the hold that the Adour and Saint-Laurent rivers have on the inhabitants who live along their banks. »
In the book that accompanies this work, the poems in prose and in Basque language by Itxaro Borda invite us to take a third look at these images.
