Bruno Boudjelal — Frantz Fanon
Rencontres d’Arles
Bourse du travail, Arles (FRANCE)
Du 06 au12 juillet 2015
This series is a work I did on Frantz Fanon, a psychiatrist from Martinique, who lived mainly in Algeria (working for several years in the psychiatric hospital of Blida) in Martinique and Ghana. It seemed important to me at the time of Algeria’s fiftieth anniversary celebrations to question myself on the thought and the itinerary of the author of the Damned of the Earth: his history with Algeria, his position as a great intellectual of post-colonialism and pan-Africanism, his journey as a man (Martinique, France, Algeria).
Bruno Boudjelal
“… Lost honor of the national revolution, what remains for Bruno Boudjelal, if not to set out in pursuit of the pure, the just, Frantz Fanon; this is the urgency of the journey. Only he, the Creole doctor, the revolutionary militant, was able to find the country of his birth, alongside the fellahs, the poor, the sickly heads… “
