Anne Rearick is an American photographer born in 1960 in Caldwell, Idaho. Following in the great tradition of documentary photography, she works on long-term projects, preferring by far the deepening of human relationships to tourist zapping.
Digging into her subject for several years, Rearick favors the retreat of the photographer from the overhanging position. And while she occasionally set herself a specific theme, such as her fascinating dive into the world of amateur boxing, for which she won a Guggenheim scholarship, the photographer remains attached to the simple pleasure of meeting people. Whether in the United States, South Africa, or the Basque country, she takes a similarly benevolent look at individuals to give images that above all mean the pleasure of the moment and the quality of human contact.
