Sublimes
Fifteen years of assiduous attendance at workshops and fashion shows, of discreet presence around the booths and studios, allowed Françoise Huguier to thwart the now classic fixed image of couture and fashion. With her, fashion was reborn as an artistic object. These years spent at the heart of the fashion tribe allowed her to build a vision capable of bringing to life the most secret elements of know-how and the sumptuous splendours of materials.
Fashion is the very art of the ephemeral. It had to be captured in the moment it passes. In the middle of the crowd, Françoise Huguier gives us the impression that she is the only spectator of the ritual she initiates us into.
The art of movement, clothing and the body, fashion tears these from everyday life and projects them onto the screen of our dreams. A fold, a drape, the unusual of a reflection or the isolated detail of a fabric, framed by photography, contribute to the assumption of the material produced by these sublime mysteries.
In the alchemy of light, photography plays with the forms elaborated by the couturiers, it penetrates into the intimacy of their artifices, feeds off their creation to compose and recompose colours and movements together, creating a universe that escapes the constraints of magazines and fashion shows.
Françoise Huguier’s photographs, where feminine beauty and seduction often hide other issues, invent a mythology and an art that become the true source of photographic inspiration.
