Camille Brasselet

D’écorce et d’écume
As part of the Le19M endowment for the Picto Fashion Prize, Camille Brasselet was given carte blanche to reinterpret the goldsmithing work of the Maison.
The photographer sought to create a correlation between the photographic print and the pewter used in goldsmithing, in order to craft “bodily sculptures.” These hybrid creations thus celebrate the artisan’s gesture, which brings inert material to life: rhinestones become pebbles embedded in rock, strands of pewter unfurl like wheat stalks, metal clings to the skin like a lock of wet hair after a bath.
The interventions by Goossens, along with the sculptural and epidermal aspect of the photographic series, thus become a form of “metamorphosis”—transforming the body into sculpture, bark, and foam.
