Virtual Seoul
With Virtual Seoul, the photographer Françoise Huguier tries to resolve a long-time enigma that haunts her since she strides up the world, and in particular Asia: How has a city become in thirty years the spearhead of popular culture throughout Asia? How has South Korea managed to increase its influence to the point of making Japanese modernity fade away? There are the signs and the traces of a spectacular mutation that the artist gives us to discover and understand by striding up an urban universe where the borders between reality and virtual seems to be abolished or dissolved. But this fast mutation comes with a backhand side… Françoise Huguier explores in depth, the sad living provoked by disruptions from which a society that has remained very Confucian has suffered to a large extent.
