Un gant, un hachoir, une plume
What do we do with the belongings of our deceased loved ones? What do these objects, these relics that remain with us and that accompanied them throughout their lives, tell us about a person? And more specifically, what is passed down from woman to woman – grandmother, mother, daughter… granddaughter?
‘Un gant, un hachoir, une plume’ (A glove, a chopper, a feather) is an intimate journey in images, through the objects of a family of women – from Betty to Florence, to Magali and then to Ilda. These objects, whether modest or unusual, tell the story of the memories, tenderness and creativity of a female lineage. More than a hundred objects have been catalogued and photographed, brought to light by Magali Lambert’s unique perspective: everyday objects, beauty accessories, childhood memories, family photos… The book gradually reveals a universal story of bonds, transmission, and mourning sublimated by creation. In this project, Betty’s objects are inhabited, and the act of photography reactivates them.
